IMAGINE dating a nurse you trust with your life, only to wake up bleeding from your privates after a sleepover.
That is the strange tale rocking Binga after a 35-year-old nurse allegedly went to shocking lengths to terminate his girlfriend’s pregnancy without her consent.
Collia Mweembe of Masili under Chief Sinakatenge Siabuwa, a nurse at Binga District Hospital, appeared before Magistrate Ailene Munamati facing charges of unlawfully administering unknown pills that allegedly led to a miscarriage.
His 31-year-old girlfriend, name withheld, a teacher at Binga High School, discovered that she was pregnant in August 2025. She informed her boyfriend Mweembe, who at first reportedly accepted responsibility like a man ready for fatherhood.

However, according to court papers, the celebration was short lived.
In September, Mweembe allegedly changed tune and asked her to terminate the pregnancy. She flatly refused.
That is when the drama allegedly moved into strange territory.
A month later, the woman visited Mweembe at his house for the night. Instead of cuddles and sweet talk, he allegedly handed her pills that he said were for flu-like symptoms that she was exhibiting.
Flu in October? In Binga heat? Eyebrows sprang up.
The plot got even more bizarre.
During the night, the woman allegedly woke up to find the nurse inserting his fingers into her privates before engaging in sexual intercourse.
The next morning she woke up bleeding.
Instead of rushing her to hospital, the man who wears a uniform and takes an oath to save lives allegedly pulled out a pregnancy test kit.
The result showed she was still pregnant.
When she begged to be taken to hospital, he allegedly refused, insisting he would “nurse” her at home.
After all, even if she went to hospital, he would be the one to attend to her and he knew what to do.
As her condition worsened, the woman took matters into her own hands and went to hospital alone, where medical staff confirmed she had suffered a miscarriage.
Prosecutor Nkosilindile Masuku told the court that Mweembe’s actions directly led to the loss of the pregnancy.
Audible gasps of disbelief were heard from the gallery as details of the alleged midnight mission unfolded.
Mweembe has not pleaded to the charges. His trial is set to begin on Monday 16 February. He was remanded out of custody.
The courts will decide if this was a desperate attempt to dodge diapers and baby formula or the accused believed he could play doctor at home and quietly make the baby bump disappear.
In Binga, this is one sleepover that will not be forgotten anytime soon.
