Lyon coach praises Kadewere

TINO KADEWERE has been described as an important asset after the Zimbabwean star striker netted four goals on his debut for French giants Olympic Lyon on Wednesday.

Lyon beat Swiss sixth division side Port Valais 12-0 in a friendly, with Kadewere announcing his arrival with a four-goal haul.

Kadewere’s performance left Lyon coach Rudi Garcia purring.

“I am satisfied with the seriousness of the players. They respected the opponent. We had to do our best.

“There is much satisfaction in the performance of Tino Kadewere and the return of Mephis (Depay) and Jeff. They can be important assets,” Garcia told Olympic Lyon website.

Kadewere signed for Lyon from French Ligue 1 side Le Havre in January but the striker had to wait until June to make the official switch.

It seems the French Ligue 2 Golden Boot winner has maintained the momentum as he seeks to make a mark in France’s top league.

“I’m very happy with this first game. It’s good to start that way. We have to keep going,” Kadewere was quoted on Olympic Lyon’s official website.

The 24-year-old Kadewere, who scored 20 goals for Le Havre last season, is expected to feature prominently for Lyon when they take on Nice in another friendly on Saturday.
