Sungura ace Alick Macheso seems to be planning to release a new album in the near future as he is now sampling all the songs from his forthcoming album at his shows.

Some of the songs being played can be roughly named “Kudzwai”, “Chikuru Kurarama”, “Ndakamutadzirei” and “Ane Bhora”. Already these songs have changed the morale of his band, and the mood of the fans as they now await the recorded stuff.

Though the musician has remained coy on the day of the release, those close to his camp say when he plays the songs in full, the album could be ready. His publicist Tichaona Makahamadze said while they are to finalise the release dates, they are happy everything is almost done.

On Sunday they perform at Colour Purple in Southerton along Willowvale Road. The joint is coming back as it was closed for a long time after being gutted by fire. Makahamadze said they were happy to be coming back at the venue they have performed for years.

“We had performed there several times before the mishap but that is life and people move on. On Sunday we are coming back there,” he said. He said they are taking their album to the fans while they finalise the day of the release.

“The release is not far but for the mean time fans should enjoy the new songs at our live shows,” he said. Meanwhile Zora star Leonard Zhakata tonight performs at Club Fox in Glenview 3. Zhakata has also hinted on a new album “Mutunga Dzese Extended” that might be released before year end. His manager Ben said they are happy with the response they are getting when sampling the songs to the public.

“The response is encouraging and very soon we will give our fans the actual dates for the release,” he said. Peter Moyo continues with his birthday celebrations at Nyamakwere Gardens in Mutoko on Saturday. Moyo who turned 28 last week said the years were a blessing to his career. There is a big responsibility for me and I am happy that people are appreciating the new album “Mopao Mokonzi”.
