SUNGURA music icon Alick Macheso has expressed deep gratitude after receiving a brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner GD-6 from businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo, in a gesture that also extended to members of his Orchestra Mberikwazvo band.

The latest gift comes after Macheso’s previous Toyota Fortuner was involved in a road accident while he was travelling from Mutoko. The veteran musician escaped the crash unharmed.

Following a video call check-in with the artiste, Chivayo later discovered that the damaged vehicle was Macheso’s personal SUV and not the luxury Mercedes-Benz GLE 400d he had gifted him in March 2024.

In addition to the vehicle, Chivayo also handed Macheso US$10 000 to cater for medical check-ups and other expenses arising from the accident.

The gesture was further extended to Macheso’s camp, with his manager receiving a Toyota Aqua and US$2 000 for fuel. Five members of Orchestra Mberikwazvo, along with three dancers, are also set to receive Toyota Aqua vehicles and US$2 000 each.

Expressing appreciation, Macheso thanked Chivayo for what he described as life-changing generosity extended not only to him but to his entire musical family.
“With a heart full of gratitude, I, my family, my colleagues, and our supporters raise our hands and say thank you very much, Sir Wicknell Chivayo. You have lifted us up and shown us great love through the gift of a car, as well as gold. These are not just gifts, but a sign of a generous heart that sees and appreciates the work of others.

“Our joy is beyond words. We were especially delighted to learn that some of our band members will also receive cars and money in the coming weeks. It is a sign that you are not lifting just one person, but the entire Orchestra Mberikwazvo family.
“We pray that God will continue to bless you with good health, wisdom and a long life. May your hand never tire of giving, and may God multiply your blessings because of your generous heart,” said Macheso.
