Sungura ace Alick Macheso has embarked on a humanitarian mission that will see him staging two fundraising gigs in Victoria Falls today and Binga tomorrow. The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society humanitarian ambassador is scheduled to perform at Chinotimba Stadium in Victoria Falls and DDF Shipping Services Binga Centre for the first time ever.

All the shows were initiated by ZRCS as their way of raising funds for their disaster relief fund. The organisation’s marketing and public relations manager Takemore Mazuruse said they have targeted provinces that are affected by disasters like hunger.

“We need to raise money that is set aside as disaster relief funds and that is the purpose of these two massive shows,” he said.

“Usually Macheso promises to give his best for his fans but this time he urged people to come in their numbers to support the cause.

“Humanitarian work needs commitments and people should come and support the cause in their numbers,” he said.

Macheso said he would do his best to support the needy.

“For the time I have worked with the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society people have been supportive and if every citizen strives to put his hand in these works we can have a resounding success in assisting the needy,” he said.

Macheso has worked with ZRCS on a number of projects and has promised to visit more remote parts in the country to continue with his mission.
