Macheso to share stage with Mataruse

Day holiday in a celebratory mood.
And what a befitting way to celebrate the momentous event than having sungura doyen “Extrabasso” entertaining revellers on the eve of the historic day.
Event organisers had a wise choice of settling for Macheso because he is a party musician whose music raises the spirits of many, typical of the celebrations that characterise the essence of what it means to be free.
“We just want to celebrate our 32 years of independence and there is no better way of doing that than having Macheso and young Munya.
“It is a Zimbabwean birthday and a celebratory event unlike Heroes Day which brings memories of mourning for our departed heroes and heroines,” Josh Hozheri of Jazz 105 said.
An interesting part about the concert is that it will be Macheso’s fourth performance at Jazz 105, which is predominantly a jazz venue.
All of his previous shows at the joint were sold out and on all occasions he has shared the stage with a young musician starting with Diana Samkange, then Edith Katiji to Jah Prayzah and this time around it will be young Munya.
“Most of our concerts are developmental because we bring in a big artiste to share the stage with an upcoming one and this time young Munya will be sharing the stage with Macheso for the first time.
“Lion Lager and Hunters are going to be our host brands and they will be on promotion on the night of the show because we want people to celebrate Independence in style,” Hozheri said.
And it promises to be a real party indeed with Macheso being a master of game whose indefatigable spirit on stage is always a marvel.
Backed by his evergreen Orchestra Mberikwazvo outfit, Macheso will without doubt leave lasting impressions with all his skills on the guitar, microphone and dance-floor.
Revellers should look forward to his long list of hit songs that are favourites of many.
Munya, on the other hand, has been doing well in the music industry with his music that has captured the fancy of many.
A product of Oliver Mtukudzi’s Pakare Pare Arts Centre in Norton, the young prodigy’s star is shining on him and he will represent his world of music when he clashes with the sungura maestro.
