Men’s tennis player Juan Diego Cuadrado, soccer’s Machingauta and baseball’s Mike Tauchman are up for the Charles Orsborn Award during the athletic department’s annual Senior Send Off and athletic awards banquet on Monday night at Renaissance Coliseum.
The Charles Orsborn Award recognises the ability of the winner to combine athletic and academic success with community service.
Machingauta, from Marondera here in Zimbabwe, has been a four-year starter on the Bradley University’s back line.
He was first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference and second-team all-Midwest Region this season.
He has recorded a 3.0 GPA in accounting while volunteering for the Loaves and Fish programme at First Methodist Church.
Cuadrado ended his career tied for third at Bradley University with 71 career singles victories and ninth with 63 career doubles wins.
The native of Almeria, Spain, has posted a 3.46 cumulative grade-point average in economics. Among his community service activities, he has volunteered at Peoria’s Mission homeless shelter.
Tauchman, a Palatine native, is currently leading the Valley in hitting and runs produced. He sports a 3.23 GPA in business management and administration while reading to grade-school students and participating in the Megan Fong Blood and Bone Marrow Drive.
Monday’s ceremonies will begin at 7pm with the Senior Send Off programme, which is co-ordinated by the Braves Council to recognise all of the graduating senior student-athletes.
The Awards programme will follow immediately.
Other honours to be presented are the Orville Nothdurft Lifetime Achievement Award, the Carl Grose Community Service Award and the Megan C.
