CHICKEN INN boss Joey “Mafero” Antipas believes the introduction of new acquisition Clive Augusto will help his troops to get the response they need against Tenax this coming weekend.
Augusto was initially supposed to feature for the Gamecocks over the weekend but the delay, in the processing of his papers, complicated issues.
The two-time champions were put to the sword as they lost 0-3 to Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum at Luveve.
Antipas conceded that their performance was disastrous.
They had also lost to the same side in the reverse fixture.
“The best we can do is to forget about that game, we were very bad in all the departments.
“I think the boys didn’t pay attention to detail, everyone was just below par but such things happen in football,” said Antipas.
The Gamecocks’s defence was at sea and he conceded the absence of Donovan Bernard and Passmore Bernard made it worse.
“It’s sad that whenever we lose, we lose with the same scoreline, against WhaWha, it was the same result.
“In this game, our defence was very bad, the communication from the back really left us with many questions but we are not going to despair.
“We are hoping that the coming in of Augusto will energise the camp, we are looking forward to, at least, get a positive result from our trip to Mutare.”
He added:
“l don’t think we are going to make a lot of additions, I believe the boys at our disposal can help us achieve what we want.
“Roping in many players at this moment will give us problems because players need time to adapt.
“I think just two signings will be enough for us.”
Augusto rejoined Chicken Inn last month following his unsuccessful stay at CAPS United.
He was among the players who were accused of championing a revolt.
In his first stint with the Gamecocks, he won the Golden Boot, after netting 14 goals, despite only playing the first round of the season.
