Magistrate declares it would be scandalous to acquit former Highlanders CEO

FORMER Highlanders Football Club chief executive officer, Brian Busani Moyo, who is facing charges for allegedly defrauding the club of US$2 000, has to dig deep to prove himself innocent after the magistrate dismissed his application for discharge.

Moyo, who cast a sorrowful figure in court, could not stand upright in the dock but leaned on the edges.

He appeared today (Thursday) before Bulawayo magistrate Richard Ramaboea for a ruling, but the magistrate dismissed the application for discharge, saying it would be “scandalous” to acquit him.

Moyo was represented by his lawyer Thamani Ncube of Wallace Law Chambers.

He will be back in court for defence on 3 September.
