charges – had her application for refusal of remand thrown out by a Chitungwiza magistrate on Tuesday.
Mr Walter Chikwanha from the Chief Magistrate’s Office who is presiding over the case dismissed Ururu-Madondo’s application for lack of merit and remanded her to June 21 for trial.
She is facing charges of obstructing the course of justice after she allegedly harboured wanted criminal suspects.
The case will be transferred to Rotten Row Magistrates’ Courts for the convenience of the presiding magistrate.
It is alleged that on February 11 this year at around 3:30am, detectives from CID Marondera raided number 31015 Unit B Extension in Chitungwiza where Ururu-Madondo lives.
The detectives were looking for Peter Ururu, Denis Nyakudya and Patrick Madondo in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Macheke on February 9.
Learnmore Madondo, whom they had arrested at the scene of the Macheke robbery had told them, that the suspects stayed at the Unit B house.
They then cordoned the area, knocked on the door and were welcomed by Ururu-Madondo.
She is alleged to have indicated to them that the people were not in the house and she had no knowledge of their whereabouts.
It is further alleged that she said she had last seen them in December 2010.
However, the State says when the police searched the house they found Peter Ururu and arrested him.
The detectives summoned their colleagues from the dog section to assist in the search and the dogs sniffed out Dennis Nyakudya, who was hiding under a bed.
Patrick Madondo allegedly took to his heels and jumped over a security wall with the dogs in hot pursuit and was subsequently arrested.
