adminsaid the recent transfer of 60 magistrates countrywide was a normal routine to enhance the justice delivery system.
He said the transfers had been postponed due to financial constraints.
Mr Chikwekwe emphasised that the 60 magistrates transferred countrywide should never be misconstrued as corrupt officials.
“There is nothing sinister about the transfer of magistrates. Yes some of us had overstayed at their respective stations, but that was because our employer was facing some challenges in effecting transfer of magistrates.
“We have to clarify the issue because some people might end up viewing the 60 transferred magistrates as corrupt.”
He said: “The responsible authorities might have an intention to minimise or prevent corruption among other reasons, but there is nothing to suggest that the 60 are corrupt.
“As magistrates, we do not condone corruption in all its facets.”
He was responding to reports that magistrates are being reshuffled in a drive to minimise corruption at the courts.
