Magorimbo joins Highlanders

FORMER Dynamos midfielder, Thomas Magorimbo has sealed his move to Swazi soccera��s most decorated outfit Mbabane Highlanders becoming the fourth Zimbabwean at the capital giants.Gwaza Nkunzi as Highlanders are affectionately known are home to Ramson Zhuwawo, who made his debut in the SPTC Charity Cup two weeks ago, Charles Mutero and former Manzini Wanderers defender Takawira Chimwanda.

Magorimbo arrived in the country a fortnight ago in the company of Simon Njeleza who was due to pen a one year renewable deal at the Hebert Maruwa coached Green Mamba on Thursday.

The former Dynamos midfielder, a winner of four consecutive league medals, is expected to anchor, with Zhuwawo now likely going to be pushed forward and is expected to bring a wealth of experience into the team that lost six key players during the off-season following a league runners-up finish last season.

It would seem the love for Zimbabwe soccer players runs deep at Mbabane Highlanders.

In other news, former Matshiyakwakhiwe defender Talent Maphosa has trekked back to the birdsa�� nest rejoining Mbabane Swallows the side he quit at the beginning of last season.

Maphosa, who had been holed up in South Africa, started training with the former league champions and cup kings two weeks ago.

To complete the list of Zimbabwe born players set to light up Swazi soccer are the former Border Strikers duo of Frank Mukarati and Tafadzwa Jaravani who joined Manzini Wanderers, Blessing Sande who renewed his contract at Green Mamba and Tawanda Chikuku who is at Moneni Pirates.

On the coaches, Julius Chakupewa has been elevated to technical director at Wanderers after failing to produce CAF Coaching badges while Tarisai Changara finally signed his new contract at Tambuti FC.

Football action resumes this weekend with the Castle Lager Challenge Cup which features last seasona��s top eight clubs.

Thereafter, soccer lovers in this mountainous kingdom, Swaziland will have to wait a little longer to celebrate the thrills and spills of the new league action with soccer making way for the SADC Summit and Reed Dance which will run concurrently.

After the mouth watering season opener, the SPTC Charity Shield dubbed Yama�� nawe won by Royal Leopard two weeks ago, league action was expected to kick off this weekend but had to be deferred. Leopard beat Manzini Wanderers 2-0 in the final after dumping Mbabane Highlanders 2-0 in the semi final. Wanderers had eliminated Mbabane Swallows 3-1 after a penalty shootout having sweated to a 3-3 regulation time stalemate.
