Mubure was then forced to settle for third place after beating Matambanadzo 3-1 in the third place play-off.
There were 16 entries for this year’s Mashonaland championship. The next event on the local 2012 squash calendar will the men’s Zimbabwe Closed championship at Belgravia Sports Club from August 3-5.
This tournament will be staged before the Zimbabwe Open in Bulawayo on August 9-12. Meanwhile, the Mashonaland Squash League will reach its business end the same week that the Zimbabwe Open will be staged in Bulawayo.
Before that, from this Friday to Sunday, the Zimbabwe Squash Academy will be having their third Anniversary tournament at Belgravia Sports Club’s squash club.
This tournament is open to everyone under the age of 19. One of the country’s top squash coaches, Mashumba Mukumba, is the tournament’s director.
