Bambanani Community Development Initiatives (CDI) will be holding Ward 18 Sports Health and Ubuntu Gala Awards which are set for Magwegwe on 5 February.

The venue for the awards which are meant to appreciate community sporting teams will be held at a venue yet to be named, with Bambanani CDI also celebrating its 6th anniversary on the day.

Focal person for Ward 18 Sports Committee Gift Marimira said: “Six teams qualified for the awards comprising netball teams, junior boys soccer teams, women soccer teams and the male netball team who stood unchallenged in the tournament.”

Awards for Sports Health and Ubuntu Gala will include shields, trophies, medals, hampers and kits.

Other awards will be for the best eco-friendly project in Magwegwe, top five supporting partners and stakeholders.

Last year, Magwegwe Youth Centre held a sports health and ubuntu day in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Recreation at Marisha Grounds in Old Magwegwe in a bid to promote community development and health services such as HIV/Aids testing and counselling, cancer and TB screening, family planning methods, STIs and blood tests, were offered for free.

Marimira said: “We are requesting the corporate sector and the community at large to give whatever support towards the awards as it will be staged by a non-profit making organisation.”
