Hundreds of people converged at the cemetery to pay their last respects to Mrs Madangure who died in South Africa last week.
Ms Madangure was accorded a State assisted funeral.
Among the senior Government officials who attended her burial were Zanu-PF Politburo member Cde Kumbirai Kangai who was representing President Mugabe, Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Cabinet Ministers and senior Government officials. Cde Kangai described Ms Madangure as a gallant and dedicated woman who stood for what she believed in.
“She was a hard worker and fearless woman. I worked with her at Nyashanu Mission School in Buhera before she transferred to Harare. We then heard that she had formed her political party and she wanted to be President,” he said.

“We are saddened by her death but as a country we will continue to carry forward the legacy that she has left.”
Mr Tsvangirai took the opportunity to denounce political violence saying the recent indaba on violence would be meaningless unless people implement what they agreed.
“We had a meeting, yes, but it is not enough unless we walk the talk. We must be able to appreciate political diversity and adversity in the country,” he said.
Mr Tsvangirai hailed Mrs Madangure for pioneering political opposition in the country saying she was one of the first women to declare their political interests for the highest office in the land.
Ms Madangure’s brother Dr Obadiah Moyo hailed politicians across the political divide who attended the burial of his sister. He said such a gesture following a meeting of political parties on violence showed tolerance of political inclusivity in the country.
Referring to the presence of Mr Tsvangirai, Dr Moyo said: “We are happy when presidents of other political parties come to bury other presidents.”
He said his sister was a figurehead in their family who at one point aspired to assume the clan’s Mugabe chieftainship. Dr Moyo said Ms Madangure was a successful businesswoman who had left a business empire for her children.
