Her brother, Chitungwiza Central Hospital chief executive officer Dr Obadiah Moyo, said his sister was accorded a State-assisted funeral.
He said the status was befitting considering the role she played in the country’s politics.
“We are very grateful for the assistance we are getting from the State,” said Dr Moyo.
“She contributed a lot to the nation. She will be buried tomorrow (today) at 2pm at Warren Hills Cemetery. The proceedings will start with a church service at the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe in Highfield at 10am before the body is taken for burial at 2pm.”
Dr Moyo said his sister was more of a mother since she was the first born in their family.
“We are going to miss our mother who used to give us tender loving care and was always there for us,” he said.
Ms Madangure was born on September 2, 1938 in Chivi and attended Chibi and Morgenster Mission schools where she qualified as a primary school teacher.
She taught at Nyashanu School in Buhera before transferring to Harare where she taught at Kuwangira and Tsungayi primary schools in Highfield. She aspired to contest in the 2002 presidential elections but did not submit her name for election when the nomination court sat.
Her daughter Elisabeth who is based in the USA described her as a loving and caring mother.
“She wanted what was best for her children. She had so much love. She was bright and as a girl she made me believe that everything is possible,” she said.
Apart from her interest in politics, Ms Madangure was also a successful businesswoman.
