A MAN from Bulawayo has been dragged to court by his former maid for the upkeep of their minor child.

Ms Sidumisile Ndlovu is demanding $100 from Isaac Tom for the upkeep of their seven-month-old child.

“I need $100 a month to take care of the child because he is refusing to support her,” said Ms Ndlovu.

Tom denied siring the child saying that on one occasion, Ms Ndlovu had claimed to be pregnant and when they went to the police, it turned out it was a lie.

“The child is not mine because when the police asked her who the father was, she mentioned four men,” said Tom.

Tom, despite denying paternity, offered to pay $20 a month as maintenance.

Bulawayo magistrate Mr Usheunesu Matova ordered Tom to contribute $40 as interim maintenance pending the outcome of paternity tests.

“Respondent shall pay $40 for three months as interim maintenance pending the outcome of paternity tests,” he said. — @gwizi_n
