MAJIKA’S $300 SOS! Ex-Mighty Warriors skipper desperate to chase coaching dream

FORMER Mighty Warriors captain and defensive rock, Nobuhle Majika, has made a desperate plea for help as she fights to take the next big step in her football journey — coaching.

The 2016 Olympics star is appealing for just US$300 to attend a CAF D coaching course in South Africa, set to run from 17 to 25 October .

Speaking to B-Metro, Majika said she has already been accepted into the programme but her dream now hangs by a thread because of financial constraints.
“I feel I need to give back to the game and impact the next generation of players. I’ve represented my country at the highest level, including the Olympics, and now it’s time to pass on that knowledge,” said Majika.

Majika was part of the history-making Mighty Warriors side that qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics — the first ever by a Zimbabwean women’s football team. She also featured prominently at the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

But with age catching up, the gritty defender knows her playing days are numbered.
“I’m not growing any younger. My legs can’t carry me forever, but my brain and experience can. This course will give me the skills to coach and inspire young girls,” she said.

Majika is a player-assistant coach at Mpopoma Sports Academy, a team competing in the Zifa Women’s Premier Soccer League. She hopes the CAF course will give her the technical edge to take her coaching career to greater heights.
“I’m appealing to anyone who can assist me in realising this dream. It’s only $300 but it means the world to me,” Majika added.

Football lovers who wish to help can reach out to Majika directly or through Mpopoma Sports Academy.

This could be a defining moment for one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated female footballers — and a lifeline for the future stars she hopes to nurture.
