Make gratitude your lifestyle

Life Issues with FGK

This month we have been exploring the subject of gratitude.

I believe we have extensively covered all major issues pertaining to the topic.

The major takeaway is that being grateful all the time is always quite helpful.

It helps boost your psychological, social and physical well-being.

The more appreciating we are, the less we focus on negatives.

Also, we focused on different ways of expressing gratitude effectively.

How we choose to express thankfulness often depends on the social context.

For instance, if you are a couple, you can choose to take a partner to their favourite restaurant to thank them for their support.

Not just a restaurant: It could be a resort that your other half loves.

Random acts of kindness can yield substantial rewards in terms of the individual well-being of a person.

Suppose you see a stranger struggling with a heavy load, it is good to give a hand.

Likewise, you can donate unwanted clothes to charity, give extra food to those in need or simply help someone lost with directions.

You should never be selective when showing appreciation or kindness.

Treat everyone equally and never take people for granted.

When you say something directly, through a text, phone call or even a letter, make sure you mean every word.

You should also learn to spend some time thinking about what you appreciate most about your friends, parents, children, siblings, leaders, etcetera, and write them a note expressing your sentiments.

Celebrate with them their special days like birthdays, anniversaries, awards, promotions and many more.

Choose to do something special for them, it will mean a lot.

Even if the person is rich or has a lot of friends, colleagues and relatives, let that not deter you from personally thanking him or her in whatever way you can.

Besides, homemade gifts in whatever form mean a lot to the receiver.

For some ideas, you can frame a picture, get some flowers from the garden or even create a playlist of the person’s favourite songs as your gift.

This will certainly create a lasting memory.

But always remember that the physical expression of gratitude is always important.

In conclusion, I will reiterate that choose to make gratitude your lifestyle. Do not rest until you have done something special for someone.
