HARARE bred make-up artist, Violet Sibanda, is not deterred by people who associate her success with sponsorship from married men.

The 24-year-old said being a young woman comes with a lot of problems.

“I received a lot of criticism from people who were of the view that I received sponsorship from ‘blessers’ to start my business which was not the case. I had to work really hard to build my empire,” she said.

“Most of the time, fellow women try to demotivate each other, but I believe that if we stand together and support each other, we can go far because we grow as individuals in the industry.

“If I wasn’t supported by fellow women, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

“As women we need to empower each other. You might have a business that you are pushing to grow during a time like this where there is an influx of entrepreneurs, but you need the support of your fellow women.

“There are so many make-up artists nowadays, and for you to be successful you need to be unique.
