Makomo, Rovers clash

ZIFA Matabeleland North Division Two league pacesetters Makomo will hope to continue with their blistering performance and pick up from where they left last weekend against Blackrock away from home when they welcome in form Baobab Rovers at GVZ tomorrow afternoon. The miners silenced the highly confident home side with a 3-1 victory as they staged a clinical second half comeback marked with precision and determination which left Blackrock shell-shocked and the team’s coach Tichaona Mfandaedza blasting his trusted central defenders Hermish Zulu and Sterwart Madziwa for playing like boozers when under pressure.

The miners’ strike force which has the likes of player/coach Tapela Ngwenya, Richard Mwalugale, Barnabas Mudimbu and Loyd Chimuchenga has been marauding of late and Rovers’ rear-guard needs to be very alert for their team to come out with something from the match.

In Victoria Falls today, second placed Amagagasi will hope Brazil’s financial woes do not affect their overall performance when the two sides square up at Chinotimba Stadium.

Brazil have a proud history in Hwange football with some of the best players to turn out for Hwange FC having starred for the club one of the most successful in the coal mining town.

Amagagasi kept the fire burning when they chalked up three points at the difficult Madumabisa Stadium with a 2-1 victory over Kamandama Celtics last weekend.

Two matches also take place earlier at the same venue as Corinthians clash with Kamandama Celtics in a match set for 11AM kick off with Zambezi Lions taking on army side Moto Moto at 1PM.

Also today in Hwange, ZRP Hwange make a return to action with a date against Blackrock at the Sport Pavilion.
The policemen will bank on the likes of Timothy Tshuma, Gideon Makotose, Mandla Ndlovu and Denzel Kutadza to make an immediate impact fresh from the Commissioner General Sports gala in Harare.

Hwange Under-17 travel to the Prison Stadium to face Prison Eagles who have proved to be a tricky customer in front of their home crowd.
At Madumabisa Stadium, Ingagula will be keen to add more salt to Fire FC’s injuries by inflicting a sixth defeat on the trot to the Cosmas “Nsomba” Chuma coached team.

Fire FC started the season brightly but has suddenly lost form in an alarming fashion during the past two months to leave their loyal fans a troubled lot.
Tomorrow Classic Luyando welcome Iwisa in a noon kick off match at Chinotimba Stadium where lots of thrills are expected.
Third placed Vic Falls Tigers are inactive as they were supposed to play the expelled Broncos Africa.

Meanwhile, in form teams like Makomo, Classic Luyando and Amagagasi are expected to produce the Player of the Month for August 2014 which is bankrolled by Premier Motor Spares, a local indigenous company with branches in Victoria Falls and Hwange.
The award which has been running from May this year sees the most outstanding player getting $100.

The company’s director Kenny Sambo, who will also sponsor two other awards at the end of the season, has since pledged to review the sponsorship levels upwards from next year as his company seeks to make grassroots football more competitive and rewarding.
