KUALA LUMPUR. — Malaysian Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said yesterday that more assets would be deployed by the Malaysian side in the deep-sea search of the missing MH370 flight.Hishammuddin, who was the acting transport minister when the Malaysian Airlines jetliner got missing on March 8, said another Royal Malaysian Navy vessel, the KD Mutiara, which had the capability of the multi-beam echo sounder, would set sail on August 4 and join the search efforts to assist in the bathymetric survey process.
“Petronas together with DEFTECH and Phoenix International will deploy a Prosas Side Scan Sonar (Towed Synthetic Aperture Sonar) which will be mounted on a mother vessel,” he added.
The minister said Boustead Heavy Industries, together with iXBlue Australia, would be deploying a deep towed side scan sonar with a remotely operated vehicle mounted on the mother vessel called John Lethbridge. The Bunga Mas 6, a Royal Malaysia Navy vessel, which was deployed in April, would remain in the search area in the coming phase to assist in the search for MH370, he said at a press conference after launching the MH370 Photo Exhibition here. — Xinhua.
