Mambas seek home victory

The police side have had a good start in the league, managing a 2-1 win against Tripple B in Beitbridge, a 1-0 win against Monomotopa and a 1-1 draw against Dynamos.

Their only defeat has been at the hands of early pacesetters FC Platinum who beat them 2-1 at Morris Depot.
It appears the decision to stick with their trusted lieutenant, coach John “Toto” Ncube, is paying dividends, but the gaffer has his concerns.

“I am not happy with the performance at home so we have to start winning. If you look at it we have managed to collect a point from our two matches against Dynamos and FC Platinum at home,” said Ncube.

“This year we have started well and since we were promoted to the league we haven’t had such a start and we hope we will maintain the current form.
“Last year we didn’t lose players so now the team is now used to playing each other and the players have a better understanding of each other. We are looking forward to a great season.”

The coach is confident that they can pile more misery on the visitors who are yet to win a league match in 360 hours of Premiership action this season.
“It should be a tough game because whenever we play Hwange they always trouble us, and even though last year we managed to win we had a tough match. So we are expecting another tough afternoon.

“It is also a bonus that we will have our match being screened on television for the first time and we have told the players that we have to improve and play really well,” said Ncube.

The coalminers would be hoping that the trip to Harare would open a new chapter for the team after having forced a 0-0 draw against Motor Action, a 1-1 draw against Black Rhinos at the Colliery and a 2-4 defeat to Buffaloes at Sakubva.

But Chipangano are not worried by their poor start and coach Nation Dube says their new-look team should get it right with time.
Hwange lost some key players during off-season such as forward Francesco Zekumbawire and Zambian defender Aaron Katebe.

“We have a new team of young players and they are starting to bond and need some time. They are showing some signs of improvement with each passing game.
“We still have a few experienced players such as Gerald Ndlovu, David Boriwondo, Gilbert Zulu and Farai Vimisayi and we should get it right,” said Ncube.
At Rufaro, Black Rhinos host the Mighty Bulls.

Rhinos coach Nesbert Saruchera says they have assembled a young team for the future and gone are the days of being relegated every year they are re promoted into the top-flight.
