Mampi explains ‘Walilowelela’

 

of the song at the just ended Harare International Festival of the Arts’ Telecel Main Stage.

Mampi who sings in Bemba shared the stage with Rockford “Roki” Josphats and the two were exceptionally good though some critics say Mampi’s moves were x-rated.
“I know some of you here are crazy about this track which I am going to drop right now. Is there anyone who really understands what the song is all about?

“Now listen, the first part is about this gorgeous girl who is totally in love if not madly in love with her partner and she always think about him everywhere she goes.
“Secondly, the girl talks about that same man whom she goes to say is unmatched, so let’s get down to the beat together,” she said to wild cheers.

Their collaborative performance with Roki was great although their first gig which was organised by the Zimbabwe Youth Council at Rainbow Towers Gardens on Independence eve was a disaster.

So popular is Mampi among male fans who literally drool at her when she starts dancing. To a certain extent, Mampi is a Zambian
version of our Beverly Sibanda or Zoey Selani.

The “Chidzoka” singer then closed the show with a duet he did with Mampi called “Crazy”.
