A 21-YEAR-OLD Nyanga man impregnated a 13-year-old girl from the same area whom he was having an affair with.
Wellington Timburwa of Samhembere Village in Chief Saunyama’s area pleaded guilty of impregnating a minor when he appeared before Nyanga provincial magistrate, Mr Ignatio Mhene on Tuesday.
He was remanded out of custody to Monday for sentencing.
Timburwa told the court that he was not aware of the juvenile’s age when they slept together.
Prosecuting, Mr Kelvin Mufute, said Timburwa slept with the girl with her consent in Nyajezi Village 10 where the latter stays.
“In May, the complainant’s uncle, Ravet Murengami noticed that she was pregnant. The complainant was forced to elope to Timburwa’s place and the two started staying together as husband and wife.
“A tip-off was given to the police, leading to Timburwa’s arrest,” he said.
The complainant was medically examined and it was confirmed that she is pregnant.
