A 29-YEAR-OLD man from Chimwarira Village under Chief Saunyama will spend the next nine years in prison after being convicted of stealing a heifer in a neighbouring village. Richard Kutsanza was convicted on his own guilty plea when he appeared before Nyanga provincial magistrate, Mr Ignatio Mhene last week. Kutsanza told the court that he had driven the heifer to his kraal so that it would keep his lonely bull company.

The heifer belonged to Mr David Nyagona (58) from Kambudzi Village.
The State led by Mr Anesu Tsikwa, said on March 20 at Kambudzi Village, Chief Saunyama, Richard proceeded to the grazing area.

He stole one black heifer.
After failing to locate his heifer, Mr Nyagona made a police report.
Some days later, his heifer came back accompanied by another beast.

After learning that his ‘cattle’ had gone to Mr Nyagona’s homestead, Kutsanza made a follow-up.
He demanded the two beasts upon arrival saying they were all his. Mr Nyagona alerted police detectives leading to Kutsanza’s arrest.
