Man (30) dies after being hit by truck

A RUSAPE man Farai Chigwande (30) died on the spot after being hit by a truck as he attempted to cross the busy Mutare-Harare Highway.
The incident occurred yesterday (May 5), around 6:30pm at the 150km peg.

He was struck by a truck driven by Brian Jiri, while attempting to cross the road.

Manicaland police spokesman, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said the victim sustained severe head injuries and multiple fractures to both legs, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was transported to Rusape General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem, while the truck was impounded and towed to Rusape Central Police Station.

Assistant Inspector Chinyoka warned pedestrians to exercise extreme caution when crossing roads, and also urged drivers to respect pedestrians and drive safely to prevent accidents.
