AARON CHIMEDZA, aged 83, has taken his wife, Faith Chigede (29) to court alleging that she has threatened his life and disputes property ownership.
The case was presented before Magistrate Johanna Mukwesha at the Harare Civil Court.
Chimedza made several key allegations against his wife.
He claims that Chigede physically assaulted him with a metal rod when he refused to sign property documents.
“She then poisoned me, but I survived.”
In addition, Chigede is accused of stealing US$3 500 from him.
Chimedza further alleged that she coerced him into doing household chores and collecting rent, which she misused.
He reported emotional abuse, saying, “Chigede is fixing me, calling me a useless old man.”
In her defence, Chigede denied the allegations of death threats.
“I have a son whose future always stresses me. If his father dies, who will take care of him?”
She also accused Chimedza of being jealous and fabricating stories to evade his responsibilities.
The court granted Chimedza a protection order and advised him to seek legal counsel to secure his properties.
Magistrate Mukwesha warned Chigede against issuing further threats.
