PREPARATIONS for the 22nd Zanu PF Annual National People’s Conference have begun, the ruling party’s secretary-general Dr Obert Mpofu has said

The Annual National People’s Conference is held on a rotational basis and presents a chance for reflection on party electoral promises as well as reaffirmation of the country’s vision.

In a wide ranging interview, Dr Mpofu said this year’s conference will be held in Manicaland Province to reflect on party electoral promises as well as reaffirmation of the country’s vision.

“We have started the preparations for this year’s conference. Zanu PF national chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has directed us to start setting up committees to prepare the conference”.

The party, he said, was now setting up a technical committee to work towards hosting a successful conference.

He highlighted that after setting the committees, everything will start taking shape.

The party will start meetings towards the implementation of the conference.

“We utilise a rotational system for our conferences and congresses. As a party, I assure our members that we are on track to hosting a successful conference this year,” Dr Mpofu.

Zanu PF led Government has so far implemented a number of resolutions made in the previous conference to change the livelihoods of the people.

President Mnangagwa recently officially commissioned the Trabablas Interchange, one of the high-impact projects.

Last year the conference was held in Bulawayo.

Some of the resolutions made at the 21st Zanu PF Annual People’s Conference are that the party and Government should establish a comprehensive framework that ensures the operationalisation of the principle of party Supremacy over Government; the Chitepo School of Ideology should decentralise its training programmes to Administrative Districts for the benefit of party members, Government employees, private sector and the general populace.

The party should expedite the digitalization of its Cell/Village Registers to ensure credible voter rolls during elections, minimizing election-related disputes. The government prioritizes the employment of National Youth Service graduates with the requisite qualifications.

Resolutions include amending the Party Constitution to recognise Non-Combatant Cadres and War Collaborators as part of the Veterans of the liberation struggle.
