adminHarare -Beitbridge Road. Mukibelo Salimon Mlilo of headman Mazibeli’s area is understood to have taken his own life between 4 and 5pm on Tuesday.
It is reported that on the fateful day, the now deceased had spent the whole day tending the field with his 77-year old wife.
Police investigations reveal that he spent the day complaining to his wife about the continued theft of watermelons in his field. Later that day he went home early and left the wife to continue with the weeding. He hanged himself with a wire on a tree behind his bedroom hut.
Police officer commanding Beitbridge district Chief Superintendent Lawrence Chinhengo said Mlilo’s wife found her husband’s body dangling from the tree. “She then made a report to the police who then conveyed the body to Beitbridge District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. “As police we want to urge people to always engage the services of a counsellor or a third party when they are faced with problem rather than taking their own lives. Some of these incidents are preventable and it is worrying that we continue to lose more lives through suicide,” he said.
