A 27 year old man from Old Lobengula has been nabbed by police after being found in possession of dangerous drugs.
Detectives from the canine section pounced at suspect, Progress Tapera’s residence on Friday following a tip off that he had drugs in his house.
“Police confirm the arrest of Progress Tapera, a male adult aged 27 of Old Lobengula, Bulawayo for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs. On the 5th of September 2025, police officers from canine section, conducted a raid at the accused place of residence, after receiving a tip off,” said deputy Bulawayo Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu.
She said during the raid, police dogs indicated the presence of drugs by scratching sofas and the police officers recovered 84 sachets plastic bag of dagga under the sofa cushion, one full Benylin, 100ml Astra pain syrup, 26 sachets of crystal meth, and 20 pills of super apeti (cyprotheptadine tablets).
“Police dogs also led them to recover a transparent plastic bag full of dagga mixed with dagga seeds, which was in the spare bedroom. The recovered dangerous drugs has an approximate street value of US$272,” said Ast Insp Ndlovu.
She applauded members of the public for supplying information which lead to the arrest of the accused person, reiterating that every information received is not only investigated but is treated with utmost confidentiality.
“We also strongly warn the public against engaging in drug peddling as it fuels criminal activities such as theft, violent crimes, road accidents and domestic violence,” said Ast Insp Ndlovu.
