AN Alaska man reportedly assaulted his wife and prevented her from seeking medical assistance resulting in her death.
Frank Musuwa, 27, allegedly assaulted his wife, Diana Mawire, 36, who later died from injuries sustained.
Musuwa was arrested while trying to find a sangoma to help him evade arrest.
Mashonaland West provincial police acting spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Ian Kohwera, said they had arrested Musuwa in connection with the death of his wife.
He said, the incident occurred between January 10-12 this year.
“The two had a misunderstanding, which resulted in Musuwa assaulting Mawire all over her body with an unknown object.
“He denied his wife medication and confined her indoors until January 14 when she passed on.
“Masuwa covered the body with a blanket and disappeared after informing one of his relatives, who reported the matter at ZRP Chinhoyi Rural,” said Ass Insp Kohwera.
“The body was taken to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital and Musuwa was arrested on January 16, when police waylaid him after receiving information that he was looking for a sangoma to assist him to evade arrest. He will appear in court soon.”
He urged members of the public to observe the sanctity of life.
“People should find better ways of solving their differences instead of resorting to fighting, which either causes injury or death,” he said.
