A CHITUNGWIZA man was arrested while nursing an armed robber who was injured after being shot by police detectives.

Residents informed the detectives that Maxwell Tinarwo had removed a bullet from one of the armed robbers injured during a shootout with the police.

The detectives raided Tinarwo’s house and it led to the arrest of five armed robbers and recovery of property worth thousands of dollars. CID Homicide officer, Detective Chief Superintendent Alexander Jachi, commended members of the public for supplying credible information and warned criminals that police will leave no stone unturned in bringing them to book.

“Let the criminals know that our teams are on the ground to make sure they bring all criminals to book,” said Det Chief Supt Jachi.

“We will not hesitate to apply appropriate action to any armed criminal who fails to comply with the arresting details.

“Let those criminals and would-be criminals know that their days are numbered,” he said.

An assortment of properties, which included solar panels, lithium batteries, clothes, blankets, cellphones, kitchen utensils and electrical gadgets, worth thousands of dollars, were recovered.

Det Chief Supt Jachi said the arrest of Tinarwo led to the arrest of the five armed robbers — Richmond Munhundiyani, Ropafadzo Bhero, James Mucheri, Francis Alfandika and Fungai Sithole.

The six have since appeared in court and were remanded in custody to February 24.
