IN a bizarre incident, a 26-year-old man from Douglasdale suburb in Bulawayo allegedly broke into a house, stole a cellphone and raped the victim’s wife.

Allegations against Sibanda are that on 31 March 2024 at around 2am, he broke into the victim’s house armed with an axe and opened the door.

He threatened the victim’s husband and took away his two cellphones. He went on to strike the television with an axe and ordered the victim to follow him outside, she complied.

Sibanda force matched the victim to an abandoned house and forced her to enter through a window.

While they were inside the house, he ordered the victim to remove her clothes and lay on the bed. Sibanda undressed and raped the victim twice without protection.

After the act, Sibanda fell asleep and that is when the victim managed to run away and alert the neighbours about the incident.

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the culprit. The victim was referred to the hospital for medical examination and a medical report was produced in court as evidence.
