INFIDELITY should come with a disclaimer that says: a�?cheating on your spouse can come with grievous bodily harma�?.
This became the case for a Zvishavane woman whose privates were burnt by her husband after he came across WhatsApp chats with her boyfriend.
The matter came to light when Elmon Dube(35) of Chief Masunda, Zvishavane, appeared before Zvishavane magistrate Peter Madiba facing charges of domestic violence and assault after he assaulted his wife Ratidzo Makaniso.
Dube pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to October 3.
In his defence,A� Dube told the court that he lost his temper after he came across a chat between his wife and her boyfriend where they were planning an appointment.
a�?Your worship, l regret assaulting my wife. I failed to control my anger after discovering that she was having an extra marital affair,a�? Dube said.
Representing the State, prosecutor Sheila Mupindu told the court that on 15 September this year Makaniso left her phone in the kitchen going to the garden.
Upon her return the husband accused her of cheating on him. Makaniso tried to explain her side of the story but he did not believe her. An argument ensued between the two, and out of anger Dube assaulted her.
He also took a burning log from the fire and assaulted her on her private parts, in the process burning her.
The fuming Dube went on to assault his wifea��s younger sister after she tried to intervene. The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of Dube.
