Man caged for attempted murder

AN Epworth man will spend the next five years in prison after he was convicted of attempted murder.

Talent Ben was convicted of assaulting his wife, Faith Matematema, with a shovel after suspecting her of infidelity.

The court heard that on July 12, Ben returned home around noon and saw a bus ticket on the bed.

He asked his wife where the ticket had come from, but she professed ignorance.

The next day, Ben returned home early and accused his wife of having an extramarital affair.

He became aggressive and locked the door and assaulted her with a shovel on the head and face until she lost consciousness.
