Man faces eight counts of stocktheft

A Chitungwiza man appeared in court on Thursday facing allegations of stealing goats,chicken and a turkey from different farms in Beatrice.

Jairos Mudoti (29) appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Francis Mapfumo and was remanded in custody to February 28. Allegations are that between September 10 and 23 last year, Mudoti proceeded to one Langton Mwaita’s residence, where he stole three goats, slaughtered them and sold the meat to vendors at Mbudzi intersection in Harare.

On October 5, Mudoti allegedly stole two chickens and a turkey belonging to Tipei Mabvu of Goldlands Farm in Beatrice, and between November 8 and 12, he allegedly stole five goats belonging to Edson Mutare of Plumstead Farm and slaughtered and packed the meat with the intention to sell.

On November 13, investigations by the police led to Mudoti’s arrest.
