Two years for stealing vehicle

A 25-year-old Harare man will spend the next two years and eight months in prison after he was convicted of stealing a commuter omnibus and driving it to Mutare without a licence.

Gift Machivenyika pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Oliver Mudzongachiso yesterday.

Prosecutor Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa told the court that the offence was commited on January 14 when Phillimon Jonga (37) who lives in Zengeza 5 left his Toyota Hiace idling outside the gate and went to relieve himself in the toilet inside the house leaving Machivenyika in the vehicle.
