Man found murdered near cemetery

POLICE are investigating the death of an unknown man, believed to have been murdered, after his body was found near a church cemetery in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza, with a deep cut on the head.

The body has since been taken to a hospital mortuary as investigations continue. Police are appealing for information that might assist them to identify the body.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the incident happened on Tuesday.

“A yet-to-be-identified man was found dead with a cut on the head at an open space near a church cemetery in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza on August 20, 2024. The victim was wearing a brown T-shirt, blue jeans, a brown leather belt and blue socks.”

Meanwhile, police in Kadoma are appealing for information which may assist in investigating a the suspected murder of Egnes Mandenge (53) who was found dead with multiple wounds on the head and hands in a bushy area near a primary school in Ingezi on Monday.

In Norton, police have arrested Soul Shezhu (27) on murder charges following a killing at Jingxrown Farm, Norton on Tuesday.

Shezhu allegedly stabbed Matanhire Nyikadzino (39) with a homemade knife on the back and throat before stealing an unknown amount of cash and a cellphone.

The body of the victim was found beside a footpath on Wednesday. The arrest led to the recovery of the knife and the stolen cellphone.
