FED up of violent and abusive wife, a Mutare man has gone to court to seek protection. Trustworthy Chacha pleaded with Mrs Yeukai Chigodora for the court’s protection against Sharon Chawarika whom he has since divorced. The court heard that Chacha has since fled his house following misunderstandings that arose almost daily with his wife.
He relocated elsewhere but Chawarika is still stalking him disturbing his peace. Said Chacha: “This woman, Your Worship, is noisy and violent. I had moved out of our matrimonial home after having had enough of her physically and verbal abuse. She always comes to my new place of residence disturbing my peace.
“She is threatening to kill me for leaving her. I have had enough of her abuse and now I need the law to take its course. She visits my workplace and embarrasses me in front of my superiors, I can’t take this anymore Your Worship. I am tired of her violent behaviour.”
However, Chawarika told the court that she will never stop going to his place of residence till Chacha gives her household property he took along with him. “I admit that I am going to his place of residence because I want him to give me the bed, wardrobe and some kitchen utensils we bought together,” she said.
Chacha told the court that she can come and collect the property. In her ruling, Mrs Chigodora granted the protection. “You are only allowed to visit his place of residence only on condition that you want to collect your household goods.
“You are also barred from doing any acts of violence against him and even insult him in public and in front of his superiors at work because he claimed that he no longer loves you,” said Mrs Chigodora.
