FAILURE to stomach his wife’s alleged extra marital affairs saw a Chipinge man (47) hacking her with a machete.Samuel Sithole of Tatira Plot under Chief Mutema’s area this week appeared before Chipinge magistrate, Mr Noah Gwatidzo facing attempted murder charges. He was not asked to plead as he was facing a serious offence. Prosecuting, Mr Regis Mawarire, said on August 17, Sithole came home drunk and accused his wife, Sabina Silas, of having extra marital affairs.

“This allegation turned into a heated misunderstanding which led Sithole to take a machete and struck his wife twice, once on the left side of the neck and once on the left cheek.

“Sabina fell on the ground and bled profusely,” he said.

Mr Mawarire said Sithole went to take a glowing log from the fireplace and set ablaze their two-bedroom house, burning all property in the process. Nothing was recovered from the house.

“After committing the offence, Sithole disappeared from the scene and went into hiding. Sabina struggled to get up while screaming for help from neighbours.

“One of the neighbours, Christina Dube came out of her house and rushed to rescue Sabina. Dube phoned the police at ZRP Junction Gate and Sabina was referred to the hospital,” said Mr Mawarire.

Mr Gwatidzo advised Sithole to apply for bail at the High Court.
