Man in court over US$16 000 stand fraud

A MAN from Kuwadzana Extension has been arrested and charged with fraud after allegedly disappearing with US$16,300 meant to buy a residential stand.

Pearson Chinanga (37) appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts before magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi and was granted US$100 bail, with his next court appearance set for December 4.

Prosecutor Mr Rufaro Chonzi alleges that in January this year, Trevor Jambawo wanted to buy a residential stand and approached Chinanga, who claimed to have connections with sellers of Harare City Council stands.

The court heard that after paying a total of US$16 300, Chinanga became evasive and provided inconsistent excuses.J ambawo reported the matter to the police.

Nothing was recovered.
