A HARARE man has appeared in court accused of bedding a 14-year-old girl.
Obey Mukandi appeared before Mbare magistrate Kudzai Zindove, who remanded him in custody.
Allegations are that Mukandi had been engaging in sexual escapades with the girl at his shop in Budiriro 5.
On the first occasion, Mukandi asked the minor out in March and she agreed.
She started visiting him at his shop and he asked to be intimate with her.
Mukandi had sex with her in his shop and a medical report confirmed that she had sexual intercourse.
Mukandi said the minor had approached him and confessed her love for him.
“She told me that she was aged 16 and that is when she started pressurising me to have sex with her.
“On the 28th March, she came to my shop and we almost had sex and were disturbed by a knock on the door,” he said.
Mukandi claimed the girl told him she had had sex before with her ex-boyfriend.
He said he was shocked to be summoned to the police station on rape allegations.
