AN Epworth man is in trouble for assaulting a woman who had spurned his behaviour at a local bar.

Blessing Chakanyuka appeared in court facing an assault charge, which the State indicated could be altered to attempted murder.

Chakanyuka was remanded out of custody to May 2, when he appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that on March 2, Chakanyuka was at Munyuki Bar in Epworth when he saw the complainant entering the bar with her boyfriend.

Chakanyuka allegedly started insulting the complainant’s boyfriend.

Unamused, the complainant decided to leave the bar with her boyfriend, in a bid to avoid conflict.

But before they could exit, Chakanyuka allegedly became violent and pushed the complainant to the ground.

He then dragged her outside the bar and started assaulting her, fracturing her left thigh.

She was treated at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospital where a medical affidavit was obtained.
