A 34-YEAR-OLD man from Chinzou Village, Mutare under chief Mutasa was jailed 15 years for raping a mentally incompetent person.
The Unnamed man was employed as a domestic worker at the victims homestead. He sent his children to herd goats leaving him alone with the 45-year-old woman He entered her bedroom, dragged her to a spare room, and raped her. In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said the incident took place in May 2024 at around 1pm. The crime came to light in July 2024 when the victim disclosed the incident to a family member, who reported the matter to the authorities.
