QUENCHING his sexual desires on his seven-year-old niece earned a Mutare man an 18-year jail term. Clever Mutemu(52) of House Number 1448, Hobhouse 2 appeared before Mutare regional magistrate, Mr Alex Shumba for inserting his fingers into the minors privates parts and having anal sex with her. Mutemu was convicted of aggravated indecent assault.
A medical report was produced in court which showed that the girl had been abused. The court heard that on November 22, 2014 at around 8am, Mutemu took advantage of his wife’s absence to abuse the minor.
He called his niece, who was playing outside, and dragged her into his bedroom and closed the door. Mutemu made the complainant to lie on his matrimonial bed facing downwards. He removed her pants, inserted his fingers into her private parts and had anal sexual intercourse with her once.
Mutemu gave the complainant some sweets and ordered her not to disclose what had happened to anyone. The matter came to light after the girl’s mother noticed the abuse when she was bathing her and the matter was reported to the police.
Mr Shumba suspended four years on condition of good behaviour. Mr Mike Tembo prosecuted.
