A 23-YEAR-OLD man has been sentenced to an effective 30 years in prison for raping his grade three daughter, whom he deceived by claiming he was creating a charm to bring back her stepmother after their separation.
He also faced an additional offence of committing an indecent act with her after he instructed the victim to massage his private parts on another occasion.
The matter came to light in October this year when the complainant’s stepmother returned home unexpectedly and found the offender instructing his daughter to massage his privates.
According to a statement by the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) on X the victim’s mother and father separated, and she went into the custody of her mother in Muzarabani district in Mashonaland.
“When the victim became grade three the father collected her so they could stay together with the stepmother in Bindura but did not send her to school. Sometime in 2023 her father and the stepmother had a misunderstanding, and they separated, and the victim was left in the custody of her father,” read the statement.
The man called his daughter to his bedroom at night and told her that he wanted to make her a charm so that her stepmother could return.”
He ordered her to sit on the bed and raped her.
After the act, the victim went to her room, she bled but did not disclose the matter to anyone.
