A 45-year-old man from Zhombe, Midlands Province has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars for raping a 16-year-old maid from the same area.
On January 6, the assailant ambushed the victim from behind, grabbing her waist and silencing her cries with a cloth, before raping her.
The man then reportedly casually departed the scene after committing the crime.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) in a statement on X, said, “The complainant informed her employer of her ordeal, a police report was made leading to the arrest of the offender.”
He received a 15-year prison term as punishment for his crime.
