Man jailed six years over 188kg of dagga

A Magunje man has been jailed for six years effective after he was found in possession of 188 kilogrammes of dagga.

The 27-year-old man, Stewart Nyamufarira appeared before the Karoi Magistrates’ Court facing charges of unlawful dealing in dangerous drugs.

In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said, Stewart was convicted and sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment of which one year was suspended on condition of goof behaviour. He will serve six years effectively.

It was proved that on August 14, police received a tip off to the effect that Stewart was in possession of dangerous drugs at his homestead in Magunje.

Acting on the tip off the police proceeded to Stewart’s homestead where 188kg of dagga was recovered.

The recovered dagga was valued at ZWG38 280.
