A-20-year-old man from Chivhu has been jailed for 24 years for kidnapping and sexually abusing a four-year-old boy.
He kidnapped and sexually abused the boy for four days.
The boy was detained in the bush during the assault.
The man was sentenced to four years imprisonment for the first count of kidnapping and 20 years imprisonment on the second count.
He will serve 24 years effectively.
The court heard that on May 16, at Gwatidzo Village, the man met the complainant who lured him into a nearby bush.
He told him that he had been sent by his mother to collect him after school.
He detained the boy in the bush for several days before he was caught on May 20.
A few days after the boy went missing, his grandmother was advised that he had been seen in the area in the company of the accused person.
The villagers conducted a search leading to the man’s arrest.
The boy then told his grandmother about the sexual abuse he suffered during the period of his detention.
